Job Summary
This is a level one (1) position to assist the Women’s Basketball program and staff in all duties that pertain to Morgan State, NCAA and MEAC Guidelines. To serve as a liaison between the women’s basketball program and the campus/university community.
Job Duties
Skill Development:
• Plan and implement individual and team skill development sessions tailored to player strengths
and areas of improvement.
• Emphasize fundamentals, game IQ, position-specific techniques, and overall athletic performance.
• Use video analysis and feedback to foster player growth.
Recruiting:
• Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes who align with the program’s culture,
academic standards, and competitive goals.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with high school coaches, AAU programs, and families.
• Navigate the evolving recruiting landscape, including transfer portals and NIL considerations.
Practice Planning & Team Preparation:
• Assist with the design and execution of efficient, high-energy practices that reflect game
situations.
• Prepare scouting reports and game strategies tailored to each opponent.
• Foster a competitive and supportive team environment.
Academic Support & Accountability:
• Monitor academic progress in coordination with academic advisors to ensure eligibility and
success in the classroom.
• Promote time management, study habits, and personal responsibility.
• Serve as a mentor and role model, emphasizing the importance of academics and lifelong learning.
Student-Athlete Discipline & Development:
• Enforce team rules and standards with fairness and consistency.
• Guide players in their personal growth, emphasizing leadership, integrity, and accountability on and off the court.
• Support mental wellness and conflict resolution strategies.
Adaptation to a Changing Collegiate Landscape:
• Stay informed and proactive about NCAA regulations, compliance issues, NIL policies, and
transfer portal activity.
• Foster a culture that is adaptable, inclusive, and resilient amidst ongoing changes in college
athletics.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
Education:
The successful candidate must have achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited College or University.
Experience:
- A minimum of one (1) year of coaching experience is required.
- Knowledge of MEAC/NCAA rules and regulations and working knowledge of SYNERGY and Film Scouting is required.
- A Valid Drivers License is also required.

- Ability to lift, pull and push equipment used in Basketball activities/drills
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, squat and other movements associated with coaching a Basketball program
- Ability to use a computer, laptop, telephone, mats, props, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Skill in cultivating and maintaining relationships.
- Understanding FastScout, FastDraw and JustPlay
