Position Summary
The Department of Athletics is looking for a candidate to fill an Athletic Trainer I position. This position will develop, implement, evaluate and maintain comprehensive health care programs for student-athletes in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate injuries in order to design and execute appropriate rehabilitation exercises.
- Educate and counsel coaching staffs, athletes, physicians co-workers, students, parents, media, and consultants.
- Maintain and implement comprehensive preventive physical conditioning programs for the student-athletes.
- Administer emergency care and makes medical referrals.
- Organize and maintain daily medical records, including daily treatment logs and prescription drug logs using a computerized sports injury management program.
- Travel with team and provide medical care while on the road.
- Ensure that University, NCAA, federal and state policies, procedures, and/or regulations are followed.
- Instruct and evaluate athletic training students.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Masters in Physical Education with relevant coursework in athletic training; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
Desired Qualifications
Division I collegiate experience as an athletic trainer.
